about

Linda Spielman

I came to metalsmithing after an extensive business career in banking. I studied design in college, but didn’t know metalsmithing even existed at that time.  Later, I discovered Chicago’s Lillstreet Art Center and joined a community of makers.  I have been designing and handcrafting jewelry for several years.  I currently live in Chicago with my husband and adorable puppy, Nico.

Approach
Playing with shapes, observation, aesthetic preference, trial and error, and evolving craftsmanship - that’s how I create jewelry. Using my hands to explore what a piece will become is what I love: design, construction and all the decisions required to create a little 3D piece. Sterling silver is my favorite metal, but I also use copper, 14kgf, brass, and bronze. And stones!

Each piece is created entirely by hand, using various metalsmithing techniques.
